Balconagar, October 13, 2026:<\/span> <\/strong>Bharat Aluminium Company Limited and unit of Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, concluded Poshan Maah 2026 with a month-long community outreach campaign focused on strengthening nutrition awareness, promoting healthy dietary practices and encouraging greater community participation in child development. Conducted under BALCO’s Project Arogya and Nand Ghar initiatives, the campaign reached over 1500 children, mothers and caregivers, across 28 Nand Ghars, aligning with the Government of India’s Poshan Abhiyaan to advance better nutrition outcomes at the grassroots.<\/h3>\n

Through a series of community-led engagements, BALCO encouraged families to view nutrition as an essential foundation for a child’s growth, learning, and overall wellbeing. Mothers and caregivers participated in awareness sessions, growth monitoring activities, and interactive discussions on balanced diets, dietary diversity, and healthy feeding practices. Demonstrations of nutritious recipes prepared using locally available ingredients offered practical solutions that families could adopt in their daily lives. The Take Home Ration distribution and household visits further provided support to children requiring focused nutritional care.<\/h3>\n

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO & Whole-time Director, BALCO, said, “Our health initiatives seek to address the needs of all age groups, with child nutrition remaining an important focus. Through initiatives such as Poshan Maah, we work with communities to build awareness around nutrition and preventive healthcare. Engaging over 1,500 parents and health enablers this month marks a meaningful step in this journey. We thank our communities for their trust and participation as we continue working together towards a healthier future for our children.”<\/h3>\n

The campaign also provided a platform for communities to actively engage in nutrition initiatives through demonstrations of fresh, hot cooked meals and the promotion of Poshan Badis. These activities highlighted the nutritional benefits of millets, pulses and seasonal vegetables, encouraging families to strengthen household nutrition security through locally grown produce. The efforts were further complemented by community meetings that fostered greater ownership of nutrition services among parents, self-help groups, Panchayat representatives and community members, reinforcing the collective responsibility of supporting children’s health and development.<\/h3>\n

Reflecting on the programme’s impact, Chandrakanta Mahilane from Satnam Nagar said, “The session gave us valuable information on preparing balanced and nutritious meals for children using ingredients easily available at home. We learned about foods that help improve children’s weight, digestion, and overall health. The guidance was practical, easy to understand, and will help us take better care of our children.”<\/h3>\n
