Balconagar, November 03, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited, a unit of Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, showcased strength of aluminium that powers India’s infrastructure to grassroots initiatives that are reshaping lives across rural Chhattisgarh. The exhibit was visited by Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Minister for Commerce, Industry and Labour, Government of Chhattisgarh; Shri Premchand Patel, MLA, Katghora; senior district administration officials; and other public representatives, who appreciated the company’s contribution to both industrial development and community welfare.

As part of Chhattisgarh’s Foundation Day, the pavilion attracted a steady stream of visitors eager to explore BALCO’s industrial journey and its work beyond manufacturing. Through interactive displays and visuals, visitors were introduced to the world of aluminium manufacturing, learning how the metal produced in Korba finds its way into sectors such as energy, transportation, infrastructure and manufacturing. The exhibit also highlighted BALCO’s focus on technology, operational excellence and sustainable business practices that have helped position the company among India’s leading aluminium producers.

Alongside its industrial achievements, the pavilion brought to life stories of change from villages across Chhattisgarh. Visitors explored initiatives such as Vedanta Skill School, which is equipping young people with industry-relevant skills and opening pathways to meaningful employment, and Unnatti, which is helping women build sustainable livelihoods and pursue entrepreneurial aspirations. Programmes such as Mor Jal Mor Maati are strengthening agricultural resilience by supporting farmers with sustainable farming practices, while Connect Coaching is enabling students to pursue career opportunities with renewed confidence. Initiatives like Kosakari are preserving Chhattisgarh’s rich weaving heritage by creating livelihood opportunities for local weavers, and Nand Ghars are nurturing the health, nutrition and early education of women and children. Together with the company’s mobile healthcare services, these initiatives reflect BALCO’s commitment to improving access to education, healthcare, livelihoods and sustainable development across rural communities.

What drew equal interest was the scale of the company’s social footprint. Today, BALCO’s community development initiatives touch the lives of more than 1.8 lakh people across 128 villages in five districts of Chhattisgarh, namely, Korba, Kawardha, Surguja, Raigarh and Raipur, creating opportunities through skill development, women’s empowerment, healthcare and sustainable livelihoods.
