Korba, June 07, 2026: NTPC Korba celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and active public participation, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development. A week-long series of environmental awareness activities and competitions was organized from May 28 to June 5, engaging stakeholders across all age groups and communities.

The celebrations featured a variety of competitions, including Quiz, Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, and Painting, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible environmental practices among participants. The activities witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, their family members, students, and other stakeholders.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, a plantation drive was organized on June 5 within the NTPC Township premises, where more than 100 participants took part in planting saplings. The plantation campaign was conducted under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s (MoEFCC) “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative. As part of the programme, girls enrolled under NTPC’s Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) from project-affected areas also actively participated in the plantation drive.

During the event, participants took an Environmental Protection Pledge and joined an awareness rally to promote environmental responsibility and sustainable living practices.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Kishore Chandra Patra, Head of Project (HOP), NTPC Korba, urged everyone to contribute actively towards environmental protection. Appreciating NTPC Korba’s achievements in environmental stewardship, including the plantation of over 3 million trees over the years, he emphasized that environmental conservation is essential for ensuring sustainable development.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions. Shri Munesh Kumar Vishwakarma, Deputy General Manager, Environment Department, expressed his gratitude to all participants, guests, and supporting teams for their valuable contribution towards the successful celebration of World Environment Day 2026.
